Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)

The RCVS is the professional association that regulates the activity of veterinarians in the United Kingdom. It is compulsory to be a member of the RCVS (MRCVS) to practice the veterinary profession in the United Kingdom according to the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966. REQUIREMENTS

1) Title: University with status of the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE): See list here. You must have had the accreditation at the time of the issuance of the title. If your university is not on the list, you should do the Statutory Membership Examination.

two) English exam : You must have one of the following:
  • International Language Testing System ( IELTS ): Minimum average grade 7 , with a minimum of 6.5 in only one area of the academic version - link RCVS
  • Veterinary version of the Occupational English Test ( OTS ): Minimum average grade B , with a minimum of C in only one area of the components.

The registration process takes 20 days but can take up to 6 weeks. It is advisable to start the registration as soon as possible.

ID:
• Copy of the passport (identification page and cover).

Veterinary Title:
• An A4 copy of the veterinary certificate.
• A certified English translation of the veterinary title.

Certificate of Good Conduct in English:
• Performed by the university or the dean if recent graduation (3 months).
• Carried out by the veterinary school after 3 months graduated.
• If you are not registered with the school, continue with the application and you will receive instructions.

APPLY FOR REGISTRATION (Once you have everything described above)

• Complete the Registration Form
• Pay the Registration Fee: once you have completed the Registration Form, your user will be contacted by email to access online and make the payment.
• Appointment: by videoconference (Microsoft Teams): they contact you for the appointment and payment must have been made at least 5 days before the appointment. You must have all original documents. Currently the offices are closed so everything is done remotely.
